“How to describe Destiny?

When I first heard Delacey’s vocal, it was as if it was a one-to-one conversation with my soul; it resonated immediately. So the most important thing for me was to build the musical elements that would carry the emotion through to every single person who would hear it. I have been roadtesting it since my solo sets in New York and Miami during the Christmas period, and the amount of messages on social media asking me about the identity was overwhelming. I think that it’s going to be one of those special legacy tracks for me; something that connects people of differing countries and boundaries. When I put the track in Global DJ Broadcast for the frist time, I still got goosebumps even though I had listened to it over and over for months. So I hope it’s something that the fans will embrace for a very long time.” – Markus Schulz

Fisherman & Hawkins Join Schulz Music Group

A new year brings an early new addition to the Schulz Music Group (SMG) family, as we welcome the dynamic Fisherman & Hawkins.

Dutch natives Isaac Vissers & Rob Koopmans have contributed significantly to Markus Schulz’s Coldharbour Recordings imprint over the past three years; with their debut release “Apache” becoming one of the most successful and memorable releases in the label’s history. Their excellent body of work has continued throughout, including 2014’s smash “Underworld” and the imminent release of “Skypunch”, alongside their remix of Markus & Lady V’s acclaimed piece “Winter Kills Me”.

“Bayfront (Miami)” First Track from Markus Schulz’s New “City Series” Compilation Album

For the past eight years, Markus Schulz has created an annual compilation mix album with tracks that were inspired by and dedicated to one his favorite cities from his tour that year. Starting in 2005 with his home city of Miami, the last one he released was ‘Buenos Aires 13’.  Here’s a list of all of his previous compilations mixes:

This year, rather than dedicating one compilation a year based on one city, Markus Schulz has decided to change things up with his “City Series.” Each month he’ll release one brand new track and dedicate it to a city that he’ll be playing at that month. When he is on tour he’ll be recording elements of the live show and utilizing sounds of the venue. Then at the end of the year, he’ll combine all the recordings of the twelve original instrumental tracks into his new compilation ‘Markus Schulz – World Tour 2015’.

The first release in the “City Series” is entitled “Bayfront (Miami)”. Bayfront Park may be known for hosting the Ultra Music Festival every year but it’s also close to where Club Space is located. Regarding the choice of his hometown of Miami as the inspiration for his first track, Markus said,

“When examining the cities which have impacted my body of work throughout the years, you have to consider your day-to-day surroundings and the reason why you call a particular place home. Had it not been for my days as a weekly resident at Club Space, I would never have had the privilege of displaying my talents on an international basis. When I learned that I would be welcoming 2015 at Space with a signature open to close solo set, it was only appropriate to commence this project by paying tribute to my home turf. Bayfront is not just a track dedicated to the club, but will play a pivotal role in my appearances at the Groove Cruise in January, and the Ultra Music Festival in March. Unifying these elements is something I hope the Miami natives will enjoy”.

Next up in the “City Series” will be Bucharest where the February track will be recorded. Bucharest is home to a couple of Coldharbour artists, Mr. Pit and Adina Butar. His third track will be recorded live in San Francisco during Markus’ open-to-close solo set at Ruby Skye in March. Although he hasn’t finalized the rest of the tracklist yet, other cities that he’s mentioned that are extremely special to him and likely will be a featured city are Buenos Aires and Las Vegas.

“Bayfront (Miami)” the first single from his new monthly release project “City Series” will be released on January 19th on Coldharbour Recordings.

2015 is already looking to be a big year for Markus Schulz. It was just announced that he’ll be performing along side Ferry Corsten as New World Punx for his first ever appearance at Coachella. He’s also been working on a collaboration with the legendary Giorgio Moroder for Moroder’s upcoming LP.

Coldharbour End of the Year Countdown 2014 Tracklists and Sets

Closing out 2014 with 17 straight hours of some of our favorite Coldharbour artists on Afterhours.FM’s End of the Year Countdown. The highlight of the day was a 3 hour set from the man behind Coldharbour Recordings, Markus Schulz. We’ll be posting sets and tracklists as they become available, so keep checking back for updates!

Hello again, for the final time this year.

Presenting the first of two holiday treats for you (the second will be the GDJB Classic Showcase next week) – a special three hour journey for Afterhours.fm’s End of Year Countdown celebrations.

Having a three hour timeframe allowed me the opportunity to really express the journey aspect of a set, being able to build things up slowly from the beginning. It’s difficult to create one of these sets in a short period, and I’m grateful to have the opporunity to go beyond a normal length studio set to do so.

After about a month of digging, finding, compiling and editing, I managed to get the set completed during Christmas week; in between preparations for the open to close solo sets in New York and Miami.

It is a mix I hope that you will enjoy and appreciate for some time to come, and for those of you not attending a gig on New Year’s Eve, it can maybe be your audio of choice to welcome 2015.

Big thanks as always to the AH.fm crew for allowing me to contribute to this yearly event. I think it’s the ninth year in a row now that I’ve been involved. And as always, a huge appreciation to all of you for the love and support throughout the year.

Let’s hope we have an incredible 2015 together.

“Winter Kills Me” highlights Markus Schulz’s second collaboration with Grammy Award-winning songwriter and vocalist Victoria Horn, who descended into the hearts of many Coldharbour followers thanks to her emotional emission on the ‘Scream 2’ stalker anthem sequel, “Erase You”.

From the get go this track lures you in with a driving but melodic beat. Once that amazing sound ends, Lady V’s voices literally resonates and reverberates through every orphisis in your body. Her vocals can on be described as bone chilling  mixed with a calming wave. You can’t help to feel anything other that happiness and joy. Markus perfectly matches Lady V’s amazing voice with his uplifting beat. This track truly showcases how fantastic of an artist he is. While listening to this I could help but to close my eyes and just hear this resonating through out Transmission in Prague. What an amazing moment it must have been.

A year in the making, ‘Winter Kills Me’ was carefully crafted and held in reserve for the most tender of moments in Markus’ tour schedule. The final track of his 2014 residency at Amnesia in Ibiza, the final track of his last ever appearance at Toronto’s iconic Guvernment, and the final track at his ambassadorial home of Transmission in Prague; all defined by this soul-inducing melody and vocal. Moments which will be remembered for life.

Markus Schulz feat. Lady V “Winter Kills Me” was released on December 1st and has been quickly moving up the Beatport Trance 100 chart. Currently the original track  is at #34, the Fisherman & Hawkins’ remix is at #15 and  Paul Oakenfold’s remix just entered the chart at #99.
