Review: Dan Thompson & Ron Alperin “The Punisher”

Englishman Dan Thompson is surely an artist which has been making his own ripples in the wild rapids of dance music. Here we see him teaming up with newcomer to the scene Israeli Ron Alperin. Ron can be joyous indeed as he already has had a nice string of releases on labels such as Coldharbour and AEZ Recordings. It was only logical that these two had to get together in the music lab and create a monster. This is the honest truth as “The Punisher” is a track that will be talked about amongst dance music enthusiasts for quite some time! Combining their musical cores and influences as one, the result is nothing short of amazing. ”The Punisher” delivers some serious punishment on the dance floor, infused with raw energy and a lead that remains intact in one’s memory. The eerie vocal snippets combined with the dark atmosphere prepare us for what lays ahead. Once the break arrives and the epic melody takes over, the temperature begins to rise, as the soaring lead infiltrates our mind and we feel ourselves being taken over by an invisible force urging us to dance frantically to the beat. Open your ears and let “The Punisher” enforce you to dance!

Dan Thompson & Ron Alperin “The Punisher” is available now on Coldharbour Recordings as part of the EP ‘Markus Schulz Presents Coldharbour Selections: Part 39 – Trance Nation Edition’.  Additional tracks on the EP include Danilo Ercole “Format” and Artisan “World’s Apart”.

Review: Dan Thompson “Mutiny”

Dan Thompson has been busy with Coldharbour Recordings recently with his second release on the label. Following his massive hit “Stealth”, the DJs of the Coldharbour family have been finding a home for this UK native’s new single “Mutiny” in their livesets.

Much like Thompson previous hit, his new tune also combines his Coldharbour influences with uplifting trance melodies. “Mutiny” wastes no time in the beginning to establish a sense of dominance brought on by a series of pounding drums and electronic synths. The track really starts kicking it into high gear once the familiar Coldharbour tech sounds joins the progressive bassline. When a comfortable sequence of hard drums is established, Thompson adds an uplifting keyboard melody to the big-room sound. The aggressiveness of the drums, blended with the smooth electronic tones, helps exhibit that sense of rebellious emotions of the track’s title.

It was difficult to followup such a hit like “Stealth”, but this Englishman did it. There are so many different sounds that are pitted against one another in this track, but Thomposon manages to skillfully side-chain every beat and synth to brings out the beauty of each one. Looking forward to see if Thompson will continue this path of Coldharbour influenced tracks or not, but nevertheless, whatever he releases will sure to be a future favorite.
