Nifra and Omair Mirza Join Schulz Music Group

Schulz Music Group (SMG), the management and booking agency founded by Markus Schulz, houses some of the most in-demand names in the dance music industry. And we are proud to announce that Nifra and Omair Mirza now join the ranks.

Ever since her debut production “Ready” marvelled Global DJ Broadcast listeners and Coldharbour Recordings followers, Slovakian Nikoleta Frajkorova has accumulated copious praise for her production and DJ skills, and positioning herself as a flag bearer for females in the electronic industry. Having already DJed alongside the likes of Armin van Buuren, Tiesto and Paul van Dyk, Nifra’s journey turned full circle in March of 2014, as she starred in the Bratislava edition of the iconic Transmission extravaganza, sharing the spotlight with none other than Markus Schulz himself in her home country.

Following on from the anthemic “Dark Harbour”, Nifra has already unleashed a dancefloor destroyer this year in the form of “Athena”; a track which embodies her aggressive and energetic musical traits. And her “Be Progressed” radio show continues to go from strength to strength, as she presents her favorites on the second Thursday of every month via Afterhours FM.

Since its outset, the ethos of Coldharbour Recordings has been to provide a platform for upcoming talent to showcase their work to a worldwide audience. In 2014, fewer have made a bigger impact than Omair Mirza. The Dallas native has already established himself as a name to watch throughout his local area, with appearances at the Nocturnal festival and various events in South Padre Island already achieved.

With influences spanning multiple genres, Omair has captivated listeners with his unique blend of melodies and percussion-driven basslines. This year alone, two of his tracks have been staples in the sets of many, first in the form of “Chain Reaction”, and latterly through “High Roller”, which has become a summer essential.

In exciting news for fans in San Francisco, the Bay Area will host events featuring both SMG additions, as Omair Mirza joins M.I.K.E. Push on Friday September 5th, and Nifra accompanies Grube & Hovsepian on Saturday October 25th, with both gigs taking place at Slide.

Interview: Schulz Army Catches Up with Beat Service

Schulz Army had the opportunity to speak to Madis Sillamo AKA Beat Service during a recent Coldharbour Night in Los Angeles. Beat Service is known for some of his top tracks on Coldharbour Recordings like “Fortuna”, “Outside” and his remix of “Nothing Without Me” also called by fans “Stalker Anthem”. He recently has joined Schulz Music Group and is starting to be included on the Coldharbour Night lineups.

Schulz Army: You’re from Estonia, travelled half way around the world to get here. Is it worth it?
Beat Service: Absolutely! You cannot compare traveling around the world to a 9 to 5 job. It’s my dream come true job! It’s 200% worth it.

Schulz Army: What are your influences in trance music?
Beat Service: I started out as a mainstream DJ back in 1999 and I did it for about 5 or 6 years. I was listening to German trance like Kai Tracid and VooDoo & Serrano. I think that Paul van Dyk and Gouryella (who actually included Ferry Corsten) were my first influences. But back then I was listening to this music but I couldn’t play it out because the crowd demanded commercial stuff, so I was a commercial DJ. I was actually true to trance already, but it took me a while. So yeah influences, absolutely Ferry Corsten, Gouryella, System F, everything from Ferry’s earlier days are my absolute favorites. And Armin.

Schulz Army: Congrats on the release of another great track, “Undercover”.
Beat Service: We released it on a Monday and by Friday it was 13, and hoping to see it on the top 10. This is probably one of my last singles to come because I am working on my album. I am slowing down the singles production. I am going to focus on my album which is going to be released around May or June. It’s exciting.
Schulz Army: That is exciting! That’s a lot of tracks.
Beat Service: Yeah, 14 tracks. I am thinking I can have 50/50, vocal tracks and instrumental tracks. Let’s see how it goes. It is a work in progress. You never know what’s going to happen. I am extremely excited. I have so many talented singers on my album. I can’t mention them. Yea, it’s going to be a big one, absolutely!

Schulz Army: You’re now a key part of Coldharbour Night.
Beat Service: I think so!
Schulz Army: How did you originally connect with Markus Schulz and Coldharbour?
Beat Service: Markus was one of the first DJs that supported my music. It happened back in 2007 with a track called “Nectar”. I signed it with a label from Romania, Ask4 Records. Markus picked it up and played it out. And I thought, this could be something for me, my path for the future. I love Markus… he’s my hero! He’s a good guy!
Schulz Army: And thanks to him we know your music! What sets Coldharbour Night apart from when you’re doing your own headlining shows?
Beat Service: The music I play is pretty much the same. I consider myself a big part of the Coldharbour team. It doesn’t matter if it is a Coldharbour Night or a solo night for me, I always stand up for the Coldharbour sound. Coldharbour is the one for me even though I have my own label, we do work together. We license each other’s tracks. It’s like a family thing.

Beat Service has been to Canada 10 times or more to places like Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal and each time the crowd has managed to surprise him, “They have a really good crowd.” He says that, “My best memories are definitely from Montreal. Last year I had a gig at Bal en Blanc with 15,000 people. It was amazing being there with Markus, Ferry, Armin. You’re there with your all time favorite DJs.” Beat Service was recently back in Montreal having celebrated his first New Year’s Eve gig as a DJ at Circus Afterhours. In the past he had always spent New Year’s eve with his family. He also was excited about his recent debut show in Toronto that was at Toika. Beat Service has several upcoming shows in Canada planned in Ottawa and Edmonton.

New Release: Memory Lane by Grube & Hovsepian featuring Vice

The most recent release out of Southern Florida today is “Memory Lane” featuring Vice by Grube & Hovsepian on Audio Cargo Recordings. Audio Cargo Recordings is is the first record label from The Schulz Music Group. In the press release about Audio Cargo they state, “The Schulz Music Group is proud to announce the lift-off of their first record label. SMG’s new imprint will afford the artist collective – as well as other vocalists and producers, a dedicated radio-angled music release platform.”

Tim Grube and Mike Hovsepian partnered with vocalist Vice to produce Memory Lane and it’s a track that Schulz Army members have likely heard before on Grube & Hovsepian Radio or an episode of Global DJ Broadcast. The original version of the track starts with a great beat as the vocals begin and progresses into more of a bouncy sound as you sing along “I’m walking down, I’m walking down memory lane.” The catchy and repetitive vocals are what make this track angled towards getting played on a radio station.

Depending on your tastes in music the real magic could be in the remixes which there are three of. Skytech delivers the beat that would fit perfect during a peak time set with some great energy as it builds up to the vocals that will have a spot in our memories when heard from the dance floor. That Skytech remix is what most have probably heard before end enjoyed. Elevation has two variations with a remix and a dub mix. The dub mix takes all of the vocals out of the track if that’s what you’re looking for and the remix focuses more on the vocals early on in the track before progressing into the beat behind it.

There’s probably a purist out there who’ll cringe reading “radio-angled music release platform” but we all need to admit that it’s a massive market for music and a great gateway towards those late night sets many of us enjoy. Do not be alarmed when you hear one of these tracks on your local radio station, it’s a great sign for dance music to have found a way into those playlists. Audio Cargo Recordings will certainly open up a new path for Schulz Music Group vocalists and producers to reach a new audience and expand their range of recordings.
