About Fred Leonard

Fred Leonard is really passionate about electronic music. He started DJing when he was teenager in Liege area (Belgium) and used to play what is now called the Trance classic tracks. In 2010, after a long break, he came back to trance parties, not as DJ anymore, but as 'simple' trance fan jumping in the crowd, and is now going to many events all over the world to follow his favourite DJs, including of course Markus Schulz and other Coldharbour artists! Very active in social networks to spread his passion for trance music (he is owner of mytrancefamily.be), in 2013 he joined the Transmission Ambassadors team and is helping at promotion of this European main trance event taking place at Prague and exported to other countries. In 2015 he also joined the Schulz Army Admin team.

Review: Fisherman & Hawkins “Oblivion”

A few months ago, I heard an incredible track played by Markus during one of his sets. I immediately fell in love with this track but had no idea at that time who was behind it. It’s not so long ago that I had finally found out it was the new track from the Venlo’s dutch duo composed by Rob Koopmans & Isaac Vissers, better known as Fisherman & Hawkins.

This track, named “Oblivion”, has been released today and the original mix is really a 6:45 piece of gold. The piano break starting after about 2 minutes is really incredible. I have goosebumps every time I hear it! But it’s just the beginning… progressively the track goes from this beautiful piano solo to a very energetic and powerful section! It’s simply perfect!

Many of the best trance artists in the industry, including names like Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Cosmic Gate are already playing this epic track, which is, as Markus Schulz said, “One of the biggest anthems of the summer, and maybe for the entire year.” Indeed, this track has everything to become, as Gouryella’s “Anahera” last year, the 2016 tune of the year!

Fisherman & Hawkins will be at the first Coldharbour Beach festival in a few weeks in the Netherlands, before they head to Canada and the USA. Do not hesitate to go to a party were they are playing, you will not regret it!

Review: Markus Schulz & Nifra “The Creation (Prague) [Transmission Theme 2015]”

In a few days will take place one of the biggest indoor trance event in Europe, The amazing Transmission in Prague. Markus, who is always saying this event is part of the most important one to him, is considered as the Transmission resident DJ. So it is really not a surprise he will be Saturday for the 11th time on the magical O2 Arena stage.

To me, Transmission is really the event “not to be missed” too.   Everything contributes to make this party a perfect one: the city, the iconic venue, the show with all these lasers & lights, the line-up and, of course, the epic Czech crowd! it’s also probably the event with the most of my friends and familiar faces around, coming from more than 60 countries.

As he promised months ago, Markus wrote, for the 7th time, an anthem track dedicated to this event, which will also be the November track of his upcoming City Series album.  But, the big surprise is that he didn’t do it alone.  Indeed, this track, named “The Creation”, is also his first collaboration with the Slovakian Trance queen and Coldharbour artist, Nifra.

The result is a 7:27 minutes long incredible but unusual track, very different from previous Transmission Anthems. I have to admit I was a bit worry when Markus posted a few seconds extracts of the track on Snapchat, but it didn’t last long! What a good surprise, last October, in Amsterdam, when I heard Markus playing it for the first time! After the breakdown, a strong and powerful lead sound is used to build a long and progressive journey till the climax, that I’m sure will make people becoming crazy with all the Transmission Lasers in action! For sure, this moment will be one of the highlights of this new unforgettable night in the Czech Republic capital.

Review: Markus Schulz “Dancing in the Red Light (Amsterdam)”

October is the month that most people involved in EDM industry and fans from all over the world travel to the Netherlands, for the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). Five days of conferences, meetings, and of course parties! It is for sure the main reason why Amsterdam is this month’s selection for Markus Schulz’s upcoming City Series compilation album. The track is named “Dancing in the Red Light”, in reference the most popular Dutch capital urban area located in the heart of the city, the Red Light District.

On Thursday October 15th, Markus along with some of the DJs from his Coldharbour Recordings label, played at the Panama Club as part of the Luminosity presents Perfecto Fluoro vs Coldharbour Recordings event. Markus opened his set with this new incredible track! And what a way to open it! Many people came to me during and after his set to ask me what was this awesome track that Markus had just played! He also debuted this track during his weekly Global DJ Broadcast radio show.

For sure, we will be hearing “Dancing in the Red Light (Amsterdam) often in Markus’ sets during the upcoming months!

Review: Markus Schulz “Daybreak (Boom)”

Next Friday will start the best summer festival in the world, Tomorrowland. A little Belgian city of 175,00 people located between Brussels and Antwerp is about to welcome 90,000 people coming from all over the world to celebrate during three days their passion for EDM… and for some of them, trance! Most DJs are playing a 1 or 1.5 hour set, but not Markus Schulz. Two years ago, he was scheduled to play 12 hours and even played an extra half hour more. Last year he played both weekend 8 hours. This year, he will have a new challenge, to open the main stage on Sunday with an extended 3 hour set. This is called Daybreak Session, and it’s the name Markus choose for his July city series track, dedicated to this city of Boom! Markus will also close the trance stage on Friday.

“Daybreak (Boom)” the latest city series track by Markus Schulz has been road tested in his sets for quite some time. It appeared as an ID before its world premiere on the July 9th episode of Global DJ Broadcast.
